In a big pan over high heat add the water, hotdogs, and sauerkraut. Cook for 4 minutes.
Onion topping
While the hotdogs are boiling, cut your onion into small cubes. In a big pan add the oil and onions and cook on high heat for 2 minutes while occasionally stirring. Add the tomato sauce, and water and cook for 3 more minutes while constantly stirring.
Hotdog Assembely
Take a bun and add a hotdog, 2 tablespoons of sauerkraut, onion and picadillo. Add one tablespoon of cheese sauce, mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup. Finish off with half of a tablespoon of potato sticks.
Notes
Onions- Another way to make the onions is to use ketchup instead of tomato sauce. This will give it a slightly sweet taste. You can also skip the sauces altogether and only saute the onion which is what I do most of the time.
Hotdog & bread- Usually the bread used is the most economical one. The hotdog can be the brand you prefer.
Topping amounts- the quantity of each ingredient is just a suggestion but you can add more or less of your favorite topping.
Cooking- the hotdog is usually boiled but you can grill, bake, or air fry it.
Cups- You can make this recipe in disposable cups, just skip the bread! make layers of your favorite toppings until you fill the cup.
