These Garlic Butter Shrimp are a seafood recipe that you can make in only 15 minutes! This is a recipe made in a delicious garlic butter that is super delicious.

These Garlic Butter Shrimp are one of those recipes that you can whip up quickly, and feel like you are eating at a restaurant.
My garlic butter shrimp recipe is different because I add chopped garlic and garlic paste. Both have a different flavor profile, which gives the recipe a smooth garlic flavor.
You can serve these shrimps as a main meal with garlic butter plantains, which is great because both recipes use similar ingredients. But if you like to serve this as an appetizer, serve these shrimps on savory cones.

Why This Recipe Works
- This is a recipe that is easy to make even on a busy day.
- It’s a versatile recipe that can be used in other recipes.
Recipe Ingredients
- Onion- I know a lot of people don’t add onions, but I love adding onions when making garlic shrimp. It is so good because the onion will absorb all the buttery flavor. You can also add peppers.
- Garlic- The trick for a good garlic recipe is to use minced garlic and garlic paste. Why? because the chopped garlic tastes sweet after cooked, while the paste will add a sort of spicy taste that garlic has.
- Butter- The butter is what brings it all together. If you want your recipe to be more saucy, just add more butter.
- Shrimp- I used jumbo shrimp that came peeled and deveined, which is a plus. You need to make sure you get raw shrimp.
- Seasonings- The seasonings are kept simple. We only use salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano.
How to Make Garlic Butter Shrimp
- Photo 1: Peel the onion and then cut it in half. Then you can cut the onion like I did and cut it into ½ inch wedges. The style and size are just a preference. But the smaller you cook the onion, the faster it will cook and get tender.
- Photo 2: Peel the garlic and mince. Make sure not to cut it into big chunks because we want the garlic to cook and get tender.
- Photo 3: In a large pan, add the butter, onion, and garlic to cook for 4 minutes. We want to cook the garlic so we end up with tender, sweet pieces of garlic. Now, depending on the texture you want the onion to have, it will depend on when you add it to the pan. If you want tender onion, add it at the beginning. If you like crunchy onion, then add it with the shrimp.
- Photo 4: Add the garlic paste, shrimp, and seasonings. Cook for 6 minutes, 3 per side.
Recipe Tips
- This is one of those recipes that can be a recipe on its own or be added to a recipe, which is great. You can use this exact same recipe to make a garlic shrimp pasta.
- You can add cayenne pepper or peppers to add spiciness to this shrimp recipe.
Common Questions
You do not need to soak your shrimp in milk. When you make garlic shrimp, the garlic in the recipe takes care of the strong fishy odor and taste. It neutralizes it and is not as strong.
