Try making Limber de Queso, the Puerto Rican cheese frozen cups. They’re super easy to make, only mix the ingredients and freeze them!
In Puerto Rico to beat the heat we make limber! Today I’ll show you how to make a Limber de Queso.
This limber is creamy, and tender with a sweet cheese taste. It’s like a Puerto Rican ice cream in a cup! It is super refreshing.
This recipe is a part of the creamy limber types like the limber with coconut, limber with Nutella, or the super creamy peanut butter limber.
And my very favorite kind, limber with cheesecake flavor.

Why This Recipe Works
- If you’re Puerto Rican outside of the island, this recipe will take you back to the days when you would scream “Tiene limber?” in front of the house of the limber lady.
- If you are living in Puerto Rico then this is the perfect recipe to make limber at home because they don’t cost 50¢ cents like they used to.
Recipe Ingredients
- Evaporated milk- The evaporated milk gives the recipe a unique flavor. The brand is not important because most evaporated milk tastes the same.
- Condensed milk- This condensed milk is necessary because, besides the flavor it gives, it has all the sugar we need for this recipe. Just like the evaporated milk, the brand is not important.
- Water- When making this recipe some people use water like I did or use milk.
- Cream cheese- The cream cheese I like to use is the Philadelphia brand. This is the only ingredient where I think that a good quality brand is important.
- Vanilla extract- A touch of vanilla extract is added to balance the saltiness of the cream cheese.
How to Make Limber de Queso
- Step 1: Add all your ingredients to a blender. Mix for at least 2 minutes or until you see that all the ingredients are incorporated. You can also do this by hand. Just make sure to mix everything well.
- Step 2: Serve in disposable cups or your preferred mold. Freeze for at least 10 hours or until the limbers are completely frozen.
Recipe Tips
- If you want to mix this recipe by hand, make sure your cream cheese is at room temperature to make it easier to mix.
- This recipe was served in 9oz disposable cups but you can use smaller cups to yield more.
- I always suggest covering your limber with lids or foil to avoid them getting a freezer flavor.
Frequently Asked Questions
The foam part of a limber is the bubbles formed while blending. This usually happens when using a blender to mix all the ingredients. To avoid this “foam” all you have to do is mix by hand.
You can always use milk for water but the fat in the milk will make it creamier and it can take longer to set.
