The Puerto Rican Baked Pork Chops are one of the most delicious pork chop recipes to make. It is seasoned with the typical Puerto Rican flavors that make you lick the bone!

In Puerto Rico, we call the Puerto Rican Baked Pork Chops chuletas al horno. They are one of the best pork chop recipes you can make.
I have plenty of pork chop recipes, like the pan fried pork chop, the saucy pork chops with vegetables, or the boiled pork chop. But this one is my favorite!
The pork chop will cook until tender, it almost falls off the bone! It goes well with a baked potato, rice, or you can make fried yuca sticks.

Why This Recipe Works
- This meat is very flavorful and juicy, it tastes like an expensive cut of meat!
- Is a very easy recipe, perfect to make even on a super busy weeknight because all you do is season and bake!
Recipe Ingredients

- Oil- The oil will help us spread the seasoning better.
- Pork chops- This is the most important part of the recipe. In this case, the more fat the pork chop has, the better. Don’t be afraid of the fat, because this is what helps us get very tender meat. A lot of the fat will melt while cooking, and the rest you can remove after cooking.
- Seasonings- The seasonings are the typical ones used in Puerto Rican cuisine. We used the adobo, sazon, salt, and onion powder. But you can give the recipe your personal touch and just cook accordingly to the recipe to get perfectly cooked pork chops.
- Thyme- I use ground thyme and fresh thyme. They both will add a different flavor profile. But if you can only use one, I will go with the fresh thyme. You can also use rosemary if you can’t get ground or fresh thyme.
How to Make Puerto Rican Baked Pork Chops

- Photo 1: First, preheat the oven to 350°F, and then we need to season the meat. Mix the oil with the seasonings and then season. In the image, I just dumped everything on the meat, and it was a little harder to spread the seasonings. So, best mix the seasonings and oil.
- Photo 2: Line a baking tray with foil for easier cleaning. Then place the pork chops and cook for 30 minutes. Make sure that your baking dish is at least 1 inch high because the meat is going to release a lot of juices.

- Photo 3: After 30 minutes have passed, you want to remove all the excess liquid from the tray. If you leave the liquid in, the meat won’t get some of the crispy bits we want. This liquid you want to save. You can use it as a base to make rice, gravy, or a sauce.
- Photo 4: Flip the pork chops and place 2 fresh twigs of thyme. Finish cooking for 30 minutes.
Stephenie’s Recipe Tips
- Don’t use pork chops that are thicker than 1 inch. They’ll take longer to cook until tender.
- You don’t need to marinate your pork chops; seasoning them right before cooking will give you the same results.
- You can take advantage of all the juice that the meat releases and cook some potatoes or vegetables at the same time. This way you’ll have a complete meal!

Recipe Notes
- Pork chops- It is important that you use bone-in pork chops; if you use boneless, they’ll be super dry and hard. The pork chops you want to get are the ones with the bone and a layer of fat around the bone. They’re called rib-eye pork chops. The more fat it has, the better.
- Herbs- I always use thyme, but sage can also be used.
