If you want a good cold dessert, the Puerto Rican Limber de Fresa is a must-try. This is a traditional frozen dessert that only takes a few ingredients like sugar and water, which you probably already have.

2 cups of a strawberry flavor limber.

The Puerto Rican Limber de Fresa is one of the many fruity frozen desserts made in Puerto Rico. Just as popular as the Puerto Rican blueberry limber.

This is one of those recipes that were handed down from one generation to the next. This will be a treat that you would only be able to get at the house that sold them in your neighborhood.

But nowadays, if you live in Puerto Rico, even in gas stations you can get one. But now you’ll have the recipe and will even be able to make the strawberry syrup to make the strawberry snow cone.

    Recipe Ingredients

All the ingredients needed to make a Puerto Rican strawberry limber.
    • Water & sugar-We use white granulated sugar and water as the sweet base for the limber.
    • Strawberry extract- The extract is the way we add the strawberry flavor because we are not using the fresh fruit.
    • Lemon juice- The lemon juice adds a touch of acidity that is needed to balance the sweetness of the recipe.
    • Red food coloring- You only need a little bit of food coloring to get a bright blue color.

    Instructions

    • In a big bowl or blender, add the water, sugar, lemon juice, strawberry extract, and food coloring. Mix for at least 1 minute or until all the sugar has dissolved.
    • Pour your mix equally between your disposable cups. Freeze for at least 12 hours. ¡Buen provecho!

    Recipe Notes

    • Lemon juice- I used lemon juice, but you can also use lime juice because it won’t change the flavor too much.
    • Strawberries- You can add a few fresh strawberries to your limber mix.
    • Food coloring- I used ⅛ teaspoon, but you can use way less. Start by adding a few drops and see how you like the color.
    • Freezing- A Limber can take 8-12 hours to set, but this can vary. What I do most of the time is make them and let them freeze overnight.
