Have you tried a Puerto Rican Limber de Parcha? A parcha limber is a frozen treat made with delicious passion fruit. This easy dessert is made with only 3 ingredients!

one puerto rican limber de parcha.

In Puerto Rico, we love limber and we also love passion fruit so is no surprise we have a Puerto Rican Passion Fruit Limber. We even make passion fruit cheesecake and flan with passion fruit.

The limber the parcha is really refreshing. It feels rock solid on the cup but when you take a bite, it’s like biting into a frozen Puerto Rican helado de parcha in a cup.

Then when it melts, all the juice sits at the bottom of the cup and when you drink it is just like having freshly made passion fruit juice. This limber is what we consider the fruity limber flavors like tamarind or grape which freeze icy and hard.

But there are also creamy limber flavors like the coconut flavor limber or the mani flavor limber.

    Why This Recipe Works

    • This recipe is a great recipe for kids and adults as well!
    • It’s super refreshing in the summertime but delicious any time of the year.

    Recipe Ingredients

all the ingredients needed to make puerto rican limber de parcha.
    • Passion fruit- I used frozen passion fruit pulp because is way cheaper in my area than buying fresh fruit. But if you have fresh passion fruits, you can use them too.
    • Water & sugar- The sugar is needed so when the passion fruit juice freezes, it won’t be as hard as a cement block. But too much sugar will make it overly sweet and the delicious tart flavor of the passion fruit will get lost. I also use water but some people like to use passion fruit juice.

    Where to Buy Passion Fruit?

    • If you’re lucky enough to live in a place where the parcha grows then any big brand supermarket will have fresh parcha. Most od the time they’ll have the frozen pulp. Latin or Asian markets also sell passion fruit pulp. Also as almost anything it can be found online.

How to Make Limber de Parcha

    • Step 1: In a big jar or bowl add all your ingredients and mix. Stir for at least 2 minutes to make sure all the sugar completely dissolved. You can use a blender for this but it will create bubbles that will freeze on top of the limber.
    • Step 2: Pour the mix equally into 9-ounce disposable cups and freeze for at least 12 hours.

    Recipe Tips

    • It is always a good idea to use disposable cups that come with a lid. This is to avoid the limber getting any odor from the freezer. If you don’t have lids you can use foil to cover the cups.
    • You can make the limber bigger or smaller. You can make a 5-ounce limber to share for gatherings or parties.
    • If you get fresh passion fruit, is good to know that you can eat the seeds so don’t be afraid to add them to your limber.

    Prep :10 minutes mins
Time :12 hours hrs 10 minutes mins
    servings :6

    Ingredients

    • 4 cups water
    • 14 ounces passion fruit pulp
    • 1 ¾ cups sugar
Prevent your screen from going dark

    Instructions

    • In a blender or big bowl blend the water, sugar, and passion fruit pulp for about 2 minutes. Or enough where you don't see all the sugar sitting at the bottom.
    • Pour your limber mix equally into disposable cups with lids, freeze for at least 12 hours, and enjoy.

    Recipe Notes

    • Blender- If you use a blender to mix the ingredients, you’ll have bubbles in the mix that will freeze on top. This doesn’t change the flavor so is ok to use the blender.
    • Substitutions- Use frozen parcha pulp or fresh parcha with seeds (you can safely eat the seeds).
    • Freezing- A Limber can take 8-12 hours to set. This depends on how cold your freezer gets. I usually just leave them overnight and enjoy the next day.
    • Storing- You can buy the cups that come with lids or use foil to avoid any freeze odor from penetrating the limber.
    • Yield- This recipe makes 6- 9 ounce cups.
