Have a taste of the Caribbean with this Mojito de Parcha. A refreshing and smooth cocktail that is simple to make.
A Mojito de Parcha is a Puerto Rican twist on the classic mojito. It is very delicious, with the right amount of sweetness and acidity.
In Puerto Rico, this mojito recipe is almost as popular as the delicious and authentic pina colada. This is because it is the perfect refreshing drink to beat the heat, especially in the Caribbean.
You can get this Mojito in almost any restaurant or chinchorro on the island where you can also grab a yuca or cassava alcapurria or a homemade bacalaito to eat.

Why This Recipe Works
- You can make this as a virgin passion fruit mojito to make a delicious alcohol-free drink.
- It is a great party cocktail recipe to make because it doesn’t need different liquors to buy.
Recipe Ingredients
- Passion fruit- I used fresh passion fruits but I know that depending on your location it may be hard to find or just out of budget to buy fresh fruit. So you can substitute with some passion fruit pulp or 100% juice.
- White rum- I used Bacardi but you can use any white rum you like.
- Mint leaves- I used 10 mint leaves but you can use more for an intense minty flavor. You can use extra for garnishing.
- Lime juice- I used lime juice from fresh limes but you can get pure lime juice instead.
- Club soda- I used club soda.
How To Make A Mojito De Parcha
- Photo 1: First add your lime juice, mint, passion fruit and lime wedges. Softly muddle everything a couple of times without making too much pressure. You just want to release the oils and juices.
- Photo 2: Then add your rum. If you want to make a passion fruit mojito mocktail just leave the rum out.
- Photo 3: Add your ice and give it a good mix. You can use a cocktail shaker if you have one.
- Photo 4: Lastly add your club soda and stir for the last time. You can now garnish with mint leaves or lime wedges.
Recipe Tips
- Keep all the ingredients cold before making if you want to avoid adding ice to the drink.
- You can make this as a frozen mojito by blending it with a few more ice cubes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Passion fruit is a delicious fruit that comes from a type of passiflora plant, where the word passion comes from. It is known by many names like maracuyá in some places, parcha in Puerto Rico, and maracuja in Brazil. Passion fruit grows as a vine with a yellow color and sometimes a purple color. The inside is full of black seeds attached to the pulp. It has a sweet and sour taste, kind of tangy and acidic.
You can usually find it fresh in any big supermarket and usually is available year-round. But usually passion fruit pulp will be easier to find. The places where to go after your local supermarket will be Latin or Asian markets. You can even it find it online to buy it.
This always depends on taste. For example, in Cuba, they use regular white sugar. In other places, brown sugar is used. I like to use turbinado sugar and make a simple syrup which is a syrup made with equal parts water and sugar. The reason for not using the sugar as it comes is that I don’t like the drink to have a grainy texture.
