Take your butter to a new level by making Guava Butter in 5 minutes! The combination of the guava’s sweetness and the butter’s savory is simply delicious.

The Guava Butter is so good that you’ll want to put it on everything. It is butter with just enough guava to get the perfect balance between the two.
This is a butter that is not overly sweet or salty so it can be used with many recipes. You can spread it in between a Puerto Rican sweet bread loaf, or stuff it in a Mallorca bun.
Or just take a dollop and put it on a pumpkin cake loaf or put it on top of a hot cornmeal porridge. You’ll be surprised!

Why This Recipe Works
- You only need 2 ingredients that you can easily find in any big chain supermarket.
- It is a recipe to use on desserts, breads, and even meats!
Recipe Ingredients
- Guava paste- For this recipe, I used guava paste. You can also use guava marmalade but you get a sweeter butter. That’s why I prefer using the paste.
- Unsalted butter- I use unsalted butter because I want to get the sweetness of the guava. You can also use margarine.
Variations & Additions
- Spices- You can add to the sweetness by adding ground cinnamon. Or you can add red pepper flakes to give this a nice spicy kick.
- Herbs- The perfect herb to add has to be mint. But if you want a different flavor then go for rosemary.
How to Make Guava Butter
- Photo 1: The first thing we need to do is to soften the guava paste. We do this but putting the paste in a small dish and heating it in the microwave for 8 seconds then mashing it until soft. Then in in a big bowl add the butter and paste.
- Photo 2: Beat for 2 minutes until everything is well combined. You can use it right away or store it.
Recipe Tips
- Make a guava compound butter. Just add the guava butter in a plastic wrap, parchment paper, or wax paper. Roll it and tie the ends of the wrapping. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes and you have a sweet compound butter.
- Before using- Make sure to let the butter sit at room temperature or heat it up a little bit if you want to spread it on something. It will be easier if softened.

Recipe Notes
- This recipe was made using a hand blender but you can also mix this by hand. But if you don’t want to feel small guava pieces in the butter, it is best to make this in a food processor.
- You can make a guava butter compound by simply adding the finished butter to parchment paper, plastic film, or wax paper. Then roll it to make a cylinder and tie up the corners. Chill until the butter hardens and then you’re ready to use the compound butter.
