This Passion Fruit Smoothie With Coconut Milk is a tropical drink that is super delicious! This is the perfect summer drink that can be enjoyed anytime of the year.

a glass cup with a cocnut and passion fruit smoothie.

This Passion Fruit Smoothie with Coconut Milk is really good. This is the perfect mix between the tanginess of the passion fruit and the sweetness of the coconut.

Even though this is considered a smoothie, it is very light and not heavy at all, just like the coconut and berry smoothie.

This is one of the many tropical drinks made in Puerto Rico, just like the famous piña colada or Puerto Rican coconut lemonade.

    Why This Recipe Works

    • A simple recipe that can be made with fresh, canned, or frozen ingredients, and it will still taste amazing.
    • A great recipe to double, and it won’t take you long to make.

    Recipe Ingredients

all the ingredients needed to make a passion fruit and coconut smoothie.
    • Passion Fruit- In this recipe, I used frozen passion fruit pulp because that was all I could find. You can use fresh passion fruit if you can get some. The only thing is that the fresh fruit tends to be costly, depending on where you live.
    • Coconut milk- I used canned coconut milk. In this recipe, to get the smoothie feel in the drink, it is best to use canned coconut milk. You can use the milk that comes in a carton, but that type of milk tends to be on the watery side. Plus, it lacks all the creaminess canned coconut milk tends to have.
    • Coconut cream- The coconut cream has 2 purposes. The first one is to add a deeper coconut flavor. The second one is that it adds sweetness because it has sugar.
    • Water- I use water to thin the drink a little bit because I find that it is way too thick for my taste. But if you like that thick consistency, skip on the water. If you want to add even more coconut flavor, substitute this for coconut water.

How to Make Coconut Passion Fruit Smoothie

    • Step 1: You just have to mix all your ingredients together. You can use a blender for a faster and smoother result, or you can do it by hand. You just have to make sure to combine well if doing it by hand. If your ingredients are cold, you can serve them right away. I always suggest refrigerating and then serving.

    Recipe Tips

    • Cream of coconut. When buying the cream of coconut, make sure you don’t get confused and buy coconut cream. This is because the coconut cream lacks the sweetness needed in the recipe.
    • Storage. It is important to know that when you refrigerate this smoothie, the coconut milk and fat will rise to the top. It will separate, and it will look like it got spoiled. But don’t worry, all you have to do is mix everything and enjoy.

    Common Questions

Can I add rum to a smoothie?

Yes, you can! I will start by adding only 2 ounces of rum per 8 ounces of smoothie. Then you can taste and start from there.

    Instructions

    • In a blender, add the passion fruit pulp, coconut cream, coconut milk, and water. Blend for 1 minute. Chill in the fridge until ready to serve. Serve over ice and enjoy.

    Recipe Notes

    • I always recommend chilling the recipe. This is because, since this is a creamy drink, it is best served cold or over ice.
    • Make sure to use coconut milk from a can and not a carton. Because the milk from the can is richer but also heavier in calories. So if you choose carton milk, the recipe with end less creamier but still delicious.
